Postpartum Planning Kit
Postpartum Recovery
Birth may last 1-3 days, but the postpartum period is an expansive period that offers opportunity for the new mother to recover, heal, and fortify her body and energy. Many of our ancestral lineages offer us practices to nourish our bodies through food, grounding practices, body work, and herbal teas.
Postpartum should be a time of receiving support, being fed, and creating space to navigate your new role and bond with your baby. Far too often, American mothers are unprepared for postpartum, ending up depleted, undernourished, and feeling isolated.
During postpartum, Vata energy can become out of balance, leading to feelings of anxiety, difficulty finding rest, feeling overwhelmed, and becoming cool and dry. In order to maintain our inner fire and balance Vata energy, we focus on warm foods, restful practices, and tending to the body, and herbal teas that restore balance.
The Postpartum Planning Kit is a printable guide that walks you through preparing for your first 40 days after birth. The guide is full of educational information, supply lists, graphic organizers to delegate household tasks, preference sheets, and more.
Inside the Postpartum Planning Kit
Postpartum is a sacred time of recovery and replenishing the body. Many Eastern traditions believe that a women’s life can be extended and enhanced with proper care during the postpartum period. My postpartum doula services are rooted in yogic and Ayurvedic practices including diet, herbal support, and grounding into the body.
Diet and Nourishment
Meals, snacks, and beverages that support lactation and rebuilding your body. All nourishment is informed and rooted in Ayurvedic guidance.
Postnatal Herbs
Excessive Vata energy is common in the postpartum period, and I use specific herbal blends to assist in balancing and grounding your energy.
Graphic Organizers
Each organizer tends to a different system of your home. You can use these to build out your vision of care and share with your inner support circle. You’ll find grocery list, chore lists, takeout orders, and signs/language to set boundaries with visitors.
Movement for Recovery
You don’t have to wait six weeks to bring movement back into your body. My post birth movement progression is rooted in Pilates fundamentals, yoga asana, breath work, and informed by physical therapy exercises for pelvic floor recovery.

ABOUT
I’m Lauren Shields - a yogic and Ayurvedic full spectrum doula and mother of three.
I created Intentionally Embodied Birth because I’ve lived the experience of feeling disconnected to my body and my knowing during the pregnancy and postpartum transition. I’ve also learned how different it can feel when you’re grounded, supported, and present with yourself on your journey.
My care is based in yoga and Ayurvedic traditions and infused with my own personal touch. Your care is intentional, personalized, and designed to support you and your growing family every step of the way.
