Join Lauren Shields, doula and perinatal yoga specialist, for this interactive childbirth education series. This six-week course will help overwhelmed expectant parents feel more ground, more informed and more confident as they prepare for birth and postpartum. Each session lasts 90 minutes and includes guided meditation + relaxation practices, movement techniques for labor, interactive education, and intimate conversations about the transformation of birth.

Topics Include:

Week One: Physiological Birth: what actually happens in the body before, during and after labor, understanding how labor progresses, and variations of normal

Week Two: Comfort Measures + Interventions: Fill your toolbox with a variety of ways to ease discomfort, soothe your nervous system and ride the waves. You’ll also learn common interventions offered in birth and how to advocate for yourself and your partner.

Week Three: The Day of Your Birth: Create a plan with your partner for the big day. We’ll go over what to bring to the hospital/birthing center, how to prepare your home, what to expect from your provider, when to go to your birth space, when to call family, how to navigate difficult situations and decisions, how to pace your birth, and navigating rest.

Week Four: Breastfeeding and Lactation: meet a local lactation consultant, and learn what to expect during first latch, how to prepare for the first six weeks of feeding your baby, and knowing when to reach out for help.

Week Five: The First 40 days Post Birth: Learn what to expect and how to support your body as it heals through the early postpartum days. You’ll learn week by week ways to support your body through rest, nutrition, herbs, and movement.

Week Six: Planning Your Postpartum: The nursery is set, now let’s prepare the systems of your home for the big shift. Using graphic organizers, each couple will create a plan for support and ease post birth.

Each couple will receive a spiral bound workbook full of information and graphic organizers.
